News

We are aware of the call for a National Shutdown today and a potential school walkout at noon. We understand that immigration enforcement actions and related national events are deeply personal and emotional for many in our community, including students, who may feel compelled to express their views and engage in peaceful protest.

We support our students’ rights to freedom of expression and assembly, but are concerned about the safety of an off-campus demonstration. We have encouraged students to obtain parental permission before leaving campus, ensuring their absence will be excused in accordance with CA law.

We ask our Turlock community, who may encounter our students walking downtown, to show respect as we work together to ensure their civic engagement is supported safely.

Our TUSD schools will remain open today, and learning will continue. We look forward to continued conversations with our students, staff, and community on how TUSD can best meet this moment in our nation’s history.
