Principal's Message

  • Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  We are busy preparing for a positive and productive school year here at Cunningham School.

My name is Janine Arakelian.  I am proud to be the new Interim Principal at Cunningham School this year and look forward to meeting you and working to support your child(ren) as they think, grow, and soar.  I have worked for TUSD for sixteen years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and now as a principal.  My husband and I live in Turlock and are happy to raise our two children here.

Jose Perez will be coming back as our Assistant Principal.  He proudly served our school community from 2006 to 2012. We look forward to having his professional presence and of his support to our students and families.

Because of our community’s generous support of Bond Measures N & O, Cunningham School’s fencing project is in progress.  We expect the fencing project to be completed before the first day of school!  Please know that there will be changes in drop off and pick up procedures this year.  During school hours, our gates will be locked to ensure safety.  This means that all visitors to campus must enter through the front office between the hours of 8:15 – 2:54 (8:15 – 12:04 on Wednesdays).  If you are picking your child(ren) up at dismissal, the gates will be locked until the dismissal bell rings and students will exit the school through the front of the campus (in front of the office).  Our parking lot drop off and pick up “lane” will remain the same.  We appreciate your flexibility as there may be additional changes once school starts.  Breakfast and campus supervision will begin at 7:30 AM every day.

Mr. Perez and I are eager for school to get started to meet you and your children.  Please plan on attending our Back-to-School night on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation and we will see you on the first day of school: Monday, August 12th (minimum day for 1st – 6th graders)

    Sincerely,

    Janine Arakelian
    Interim Principal
