Pool Safety/Security Plan

Information for TUSD Staff

Pool Closure Process:

  • The pool must remain closed for 48 hours due to:
    • Body Fluid
    • Vomit
    • Urine
    • Feces

Please note that staff must notify Maintenance as soon as they are aware of an incident.

If a closed pool sign is on the pool deck, the pool should NOT be used.  Staff should contact the main office for more details.

Notify Maintenance IMMEDIATELY of damaged equipment.
Example of equipment, but not limited to:

  • Exterior Lights
  • Water Lights
  • Building Lights
  • Cameras/Security
  • Proper Signs
  • Life Hooks/Rings
  • Damaged Pool Covers (Note: All pool covers should be removed before getting into the pool.  Drain covers should be changed every 5 years.

Safety Equipment Locations

  • Life rings are located against the north and south brick walls.
  • Life hooks are located on the north brick wall.
    • Defibrillator (AED) located in the Main Pool Office.
  • Staff should reference the pool map for specific locations.

Maintenance

  • Rinse before using the pool (Assist with balancing the chemicals.)
  • All TUSD pools will be CLOSED on FRIDAYS due to general maintenance– water polo is the only exception.

***M&O/Coaches are to be held accountable for pool inspections before opening pools for use*** (Outside of maintenance hours only.)

Chemical Spill Acid/ Chlorine

  • Call the main office.
  • Call 911.
  • Evacuate the site.
