Healthy Habits

  • Sleep experts say we need to sleep an average of 8 hours to optimize our health.  Some may need more or less, but 8 hours is the average for most of us.  We all need enough sleep to feel well-rested and refreshed when we wake up.  Children need more sleep than adults to feel adequately rested. 

    Preschool/Kindergarteners average need is 10-13 hours per day

    School age children average need is 9-11 per day

    Teenagers average need is 7-9 hours per day

    Adults average need is 7-9 hours per day

    • Set a consistent bedtime and waketime
    • Avoid electronics
    • Have a cool, quiet, dark, comfortable place to sleep
    • Develop a relaxing nighttime routine
