COVID-19 School and Work Exposures

  • COVID Exposures

Information on COVID-19 exposures will be posted daily on the TUSD website. COVID-19 testing information is located on this page as well.

As a reminder, if your student is symptomatic or positive please have them remain at home and complete the COVID reporting form. A symptomatic employee should contact their supervisor. Exposed students and staff may continue to attend school or work if asymptomatic but it is recommended they test 3-5 days from exposure and wear a mask.

COVID-19 School Exposure Information

  • TUSD utilizes a Group Contact Tracing Approach. The infected person is sent home to isolate and those exposed may remain at school as long as asymptomatic  It is recommended exposed students should:

    • Watch for symptoms
    • Get tested 3-5 days from exposure to positive case
    • Wear a mask

The State of California recommends all eligible students get vaccinated.

Please continue to follow safety precautions and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If your student develops COVID-like symptoms, is exposed outside school, or tests positive, you should contact your primary healthcare provider and/or have your student tested. Parents should complete the COVID-19 Reporting Form located on the school website or at http://www.turlock.k12.ca.us/covidreporting

For those interested, free COVID-19 testing options are available in Turlock, including at TUSD. More information can be found at http://www.turlock.k12.ca.us/covidtesting and http://www.schsa.org/coronavirus/testing

Close Contact Guidance

  • COVID-19 testing is recommended within 3-5 days of last exposure to a positive case.

Definition of a Close Contact

  • "Close Contact" means the following:

    1. In indoor spaces of 400,000 or fewer cubic feet per floor (such as homes, clinic waiting rooms, airplanes, etc.), close contact is defined as sharing the same indoor airspace  for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes) during a confirmed case's infectious period.
    2. In large indoor spaces greater than 400,000 cubic feet per floor (such as open-floor-plan offices, warehouses, large retail stores, manufacturing, or food processing facilities), close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of the infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period during the confirmed case's infectious period.

Spaces that are separated by floor-to-ceiling walls (e.g., offices, suites, rooms, waiting areas, bathrooms, or break or eating areas that are separated by floor-to-ceiling walls) must be considered distinct indoor airspaces.
