Principal's Message

  • Dear Parents/Guardians of Wakefield Elementary Students,

Welcome back to the 2019-20 school year!  We are starting our new year off with some exciting changes.  We would like to welcome our new Assistant Principal Maribel Romero.  Mrs. Romero has been a first and third grade teacher in TUSD and served as the English Language Development teacher at Wakefield.  She is excited to continue supporting students and families in her new role at Wakefield.

This year we will expand the Dual Language Immersion program into third grade.  The goal of our program is to prepare students to be bilingual, biliterate and to develop an understanding of multiculturalism.  Our primary goal is to do what is best for all students.  This includes promoting safety while modeling and teaching problem-solving skills to all students within the classroom and during unstructured parts of the day.  Our motto is that “Wakefield students work it out!”  Our staff is committed to providing the best education for your child.

This year there are some additional changes within our school community & new additions to our staff.

Kindergarten: Karina Cortez & Maureen Pereira
    First Grade: Melissa Salazar
Second Grade:  Roberto Flores, Yaneth Moreno & Rocelia Granado
    Third Grade: Nancy Espino
Fourth Grade: Victor Inguanzo, Ivette Ramirez & Michelle Nightengale-Perry
    Fifth Grade: Sarah Abraham
    Sixth Grade: Kyle Nicolson

We look forward to working with you, as a partner in your child’s education.  We value the importance of maintaining positive communication with our students, parents and school community.  Please get involved and participate in programs and activities with your child and your child’s teacher.  We encourage students to wear their Wakefield spirit shirt every Friday.  Please calendar “Back to School Night” on August 22nd beginning at 5:45 in the Wakefield cafeteria.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year as we continue to foster strong academic achievement and promote being a person of character.  Please feel free to contact our office if you should have any questions or concerns.
