November 20, 2007
Dear Parents/Legal Guardian,
Test results from the 2006/2007 school year identify Osborn and Wakefield Elementary as a Program Improvement school that must offer Public School Choice or Supplemental Educational Services. The schools have implemented many reforms to improve including professional development for the staff and extending learning opportunities for the students.
Students, who remain at Osborn or Wakefield Elementary for the 2006/2007 school year, may be eligible to receive Supplemental Educational Services in the form of additional tutoring or academic assistance outside the regular school day from a state approved support provider. The District will cover the costs of the Supplemental Educational Services up to $1,044.10. Transportation costs will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Students who are eligible for Supplemental Educational Services must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Remain in attendance at Osborn or Wakefield Elementary for the 2007/2008 school year.
- Low-socio-economic status [Section 1116, sub section E (ii)] as determined by Free and Reduced Lunch eligibility.
- Lowest achieving students [Section 1166, sub section E (ii)] as determined by grades and 2006 California Standards Test scores.
Should more students sign up then financially allotted by the district, applications will be reviewed and eligibility will be based on lowest achieving students first.
