Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! Our staff has been working hard to ensure that you
and your child will have a successful year. It is crucial to have every student in school
and on time every day!
Julien Elementary will continue to offer a strong academic education that challenges students
to do their personal best. Our continued focus on the California Content Standards will drive
our instruction. Turlock Unified School District has delineated core values that our school will
follow so that all children will be reading at grade level by the 3rd grade with universal access
and achievement. In essence, our focus will be reading, writing, math and science! Please do
not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. Together, we should
have a wonderful 2010-2011 year!
Daily Time Schedule:
Grades 1-6: Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. - 8:35 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
Every Wednesday is observed as a minimum day - 8:35 a.m. - 1:05 p.m.
Kindergarten AM: Monday through Friday - 8:25 - 11:45 p.m.
Morning Kindergarten children eat lunch - all bus riders are dismissed at 12:05 p.m.
Kindergarten PM: Monday through Friday – 11:50 - 3:10 p.m.
Afternoon Kindergarten children may eat lunch at school and arrive at the cafeteria at 11:20.
The California law stipulates that we must notify parents of some basic legal rights and supply
information on cafeteria lunches. The District provides information on student registration cards,
student insurance and daily time schedules. Please read your Student/Parent Handbook and
follow the directions on the form that is attached to the handbook.
Student Registration: A completed registration card is necessary for your child to be enrolled in our
school. Since it is a matter of safety, this is not an option. PLEASE RETURN the registration
card to your child's teacher no later than Tuesday, August 25th.
Insurance: If your 7th-12th grade child participates in inter-school athletic events, some
"blanket type" insurance coverage is provided. However, children enrolled in K-6 grades are
not insured by this "blanket type" coverage. Myers-Stevens Insurance Company provides
low excess coverage insurance and it is available to you. If you want this insurance policy
please forward your money and enrollment form directly to Myers-Stevens Insurance Company
in the attached envelope.
Use of Student Pictures: Julien will use student photos in public relations, informational and
promotional matters, unless parents specifically request otherwise. No photos will be used online
without written parental consent.
Free and Reduced Lunch: Applications for the lunch program and the District Cafeteria Policy
are attached.
Sincerely,
Linda Murphy-Lopes
Principal
